Cleaning Supplies Pt.2 | Carpet and Linen
by Haus of BlaylockYou didn’t think I was going to leave it at hard surfaces, did you?! Of course not! I’ve got some additional cleaning products/secrets to recommend for the softer surfaces as well!
Carpet
Starting with carpet, Folex is highly recommended for carpet and upholstery cleaning. It’s great for those of you that have kids and pets! Always know that there’s always a fantastic cleaning product right around the corner! So never let the fear of cleaning up messes keep you from investing in your home. The key is finding the stain early! And for my wine lovers, Wine-o has always been my go-to for getting out those pesky spills! But hey, it happens!
Linen
Next up is linen! Now, if you know me, you know my number one ruleā¦ FABRICS FIRST! Why? Because fabrics are used for so many different things. They’re used for upholstery, drapery; the list goes on! So it’s essential to make sure your fabrics are always looking their best. And that includes linen as well. One of the reasons why I love linen so much is because it’s a natural fiber. On top of that, linen is incredibly strong, durable, absorbent, and reliable. There’s a reason we’ve been using linen for thousands of years.
When it comes to linen sheets, I recommend using baby detergent. I know it sounds weird, but there’s a method to the madness. Linen gets softer each time you wash it, and you don’t want harsh chemicals breaking down the fibers. So why not wash it using one of the most naturally soft detergents out there? I recommend Delft.
The key to linen is in its flax fiber. Different linens use different fiber plants depending on where they’re grown, so it’s essential to keep that in mind when choosing your cleaning products. For example, Europe grows their linen taller than they do in China. The taller the flax grows, the longer the thread will be, making it stronger and less prone to tearing. Conversely, the shorter the flax, the more inclined the linen will be to tears and punctures.
