As we’ve begun to shelter in place…
by Haus of BlaylockI wanted to express how grateful I am for my family, friends, and our incredible community. It brings a sense of peace in this time of uncertainty. I know many of us are feeling stir crazy and helpless as we sit at home, wishing we could do something to help those in need. Well, here are a few tips on what you can do to help, while also staying inside:
ORGANIZE WITH INTENT TO HELP:
Go through your closets, drawers, and any place that you have stuffed away things you aren’t using. While you’re doing this, ask yourself, did I use it recently, do I need it, and most of all, would it mean a lot to someone else to have it. I think the thought of giving may help in the process of decluttering, and at the same time organizing your space will give you a fresh start and to know someone will benefit from the items you no longer use.
DONATE:
After organizing, take those items you no longer use and donate them to those in need! Look up your local Goodwill and SafeHaven Donation Stations. Also, download the NextDoor app and see if your neighbors are in need of something that you may have.
RE-DESIGN:
Whether it’s rearranging your furniture or painting a room, either of these options is one quick way to give your room a new look. Nothing better than brightening a room with a lighter, fresher color. And if you have bored kids at home, let them join in on the fun! Get some paper, draw up the floorplan, make some cut-outs of the furniture, and let your kids place the cut-outs wherever they see fit and if you’re brave enough hand them a paintbrush! Here are some of my favorite paint colors from Sherwin-Williams: SW 7005 Pure White, SW7008 Alabaster, SW7648 Big Chill, and SW7650 Ellie Gray.
Now is the time to make the changes you’ve always thought about but didn’t have the time. If you need any help picking a color of paint or suggesting a new layout, I’m just a phone call away! Or feel free to DM me on Instagram, attach a picture of your space, and I’ll give you my suggestions. Send me some of your before and after! I’d love to see them, and helping others with design will brighten my day. Stay safe, healthy, and sane!
