Architectural Arrivals
by Haus of BlaylockWhen traveling, I love being inspired by different cultures and styles. Like my “French Chateau” post, I can’t get enough of architectural pieces reflecting ancient Greek structures and columns. Since the mid 1800s, Greek revival still remains a popular architectural style to replicate.
Greek revival style has been a popular exterior design for old southern plantations and homes. I love to feature small statues, lamps, accessories, and furniture that replicate historical Greek or Roman columns. Beautifully crafted, display pediments as stand-alone art or as lifter for vases and picture frame.
Symmetrical facades are repeated throughout architectural arrangements that are pleasing to the eye. This influential style is known for its order, proportion, and repetition of details from original structures. Greek inspired pieces remain classic, adding an upscale and heightened interest to one’s home decor. Doric, Ionic, and fluted columns serve as inspiration for other styles such as modern, contemporary, and old world interior design.
The blending of architectural elements serves as flawless transitional pieces. A unique ambiance of European elegance is simply produced. Choose pieces that are recognized for their original form, have functionality, or can be repurposed into something brand new.
